IAED Emergency Telecommunicator Certification
Course Description: The Emergency Telecommunicator course provides an introduction to emergency telecommunication centers’ technology, processes, and ethics. The course is designed to prepare you to learn effective communication in an emergency situation and help you earn a certification through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) as Emergency Telecommunicators. Training includes instruction in, but not limited to, the following: emergency telecommunication technology, interpersonal communication, caller management, classification of police, fire, and medical calls, legal aspects of public safety communication and, stress factors and management in the emergency telecommunication field. This course is approved by NJ OETS for Basic Telecommunicator Certification. |
NJ Emergency Medical Dispatch Course
Course Description: This course is the state mandated 32 Hour Emergency Medical Dispatch Program. This course is designed to provide dispatchers (Police/Fire/EMS) with the necessary information and skills to function as an EMD. This course will provide students with the secondary level of certification that is required for any officer or dispatcher who will answer 9-1-1 Medical Calls. Topics include: responsibilities of an EMD, legal/liability issues, providing proper medical instructions by phone, and use of the emergency medical dispatch guide cards. This course includes role-playing simulated 9-1-1 medical calls. Prerequisites: 1. A valid Healthcare Provider (or equivalent) CPR card 2. Current certification as a 911 Basic Telecommunicator Certification or proof of course completion. Education Credit: Elective CEUs for EMTs/Paramedics pending OEMS Approval |
NJ EMD Refresher
Course Description: The State of New Jersey EMD program requires a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education every three years following initial certification. Some dispatchers have fallen behind on their CTE, and as such, when their EMD is coming up on expiration, they haven’t completed the necessary training. This course provides you with 8 CTE units towards your recertification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification with the Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services. Prerequisites: 1. A valid Healthcare Provider (or equivalent) CPR card 2. Current certification as an NJ Emergency Medical Dispatcher Education Credit: 8 CTEs for NJ Emergency Medical Dispatchers |
